Reading the past few entries I'm both sorry for some bros & happy for the others:

Torres, Sha_Q : happiness rating goes up
SV : normal rating
KT, me : happiness rating goes down (me is yo-yo case, sometimes up sometimes down. A day back it goes up I hope I'm heading the way Sha_Q is ultimately.)

Thanks for all the encouragement & fdbacks. Although I may still cheong (lightly, not the heavy stuff!!) - more like gathering with bros here to chit-chat & rabba gers a bit enuf. I'm beginning to develop the other respect for the Vn-person gradually, also focus on building up reserve as I'm not well to do...and in tight $ situation.

Bro chanyboy, my happiness rating never goes down. However it goes up when i know more about my viet g/f. I understand her more since we sms/chat/dt everyday. I have no doubt about her already... she is not the 'stereotyped WL' found JC. I know that she is not toying with me and she do love me more than i love her... heehee.

There is 1 thing i am sad is that she do come from a poor family and seems like everyone in the family is taking advantage of her. I have my own problem in Sillypore and she cannot come over here till 2009....by the time i think my problem will be solved. So actually we are looking forward to 2009.... if can last till the date, it means we are meant for each other...

My suggestion is not to bring gift for any family member for the first time. Else they will expect more if there is a chance for 2nd, 3rd or 4th visit. Personally i only buy gift for my g/f when i visit her (always last min from Tigerairways in the plane). The last time i visit her family in Mekong, she do bring me to supermarket to buy food.. spend about S$35 for the food stuff.

Before I tried to answer you my views pertaining to your answers...I like to ask Who is Sha_Q ???

what gift to bring- for the 1st visit to my ex, another decent girl, I buy fruits for her family. As for my current gf, I buy more as marriage is on the way, i brought her daddy 2 martell, 2 pack of 555, her mum 3 box of hair dying stuff, her aunt 1 washing scrub from faceshop, her brother some clothes.

what reserve to bring- bring some panadol? bring more cash just in case/ bring condom? Bring a cap and long sleve shirt if you dont want get sunburn...if lazy then just bring cash as it is king over there

where to go- ask your girl to bring you around..she should know better..one of the things to do at HCMC is to eat and eat and eat

where to stay best at HCMC (ger friendly)- personally i always like to stay at Pam Ngu Lao St, those backpacker district, the room is big clean and cheaper and that area is more crowed with more things to look see look see. If you interested, then just ask taxi to send u there, you will find alot of backpacker around there. If not then dig back to my old posting at another thread which I have stated the address before

I think this is not a good idea if you really want a commitment with her...it seems not polite... as for the 2nd 3rd or 4th time, I guess I wont have such problem...depends on different family...

Fruits are quite normal gift to bring for your gf's family. But it will depend on how much she means to you. if she could be your future wife, then buy some liquor and 555 for her dad and bros. As for her mum, if not sure what to buy, 200,000 VND will look good

Reserve? Remember to bring your ATM card of Credit card. If ATM card from POSB, make sure u go change to the new card where there's a PLUS logo behind. It will aid you if you wish to withdraw cash from their ATM there. bring some panadol and some medication for stomach upset. need to bring condom meh? u think u going to mountain top huh? if need to lam tinh in hotel, ask bellboy to help you to buy.

Where to go? lots of places. Depending on what is your interest. If need decent places to go, go to Cu Chi tunnels and maybe go mekong delta for day tour.

I beg to differ. Pham Ngu lao is such a complicated place. better to stay elsewhere. i personally prefer Bui Thi Xuan. U can get nice rooms at cheap rates. If u really sibei poor till u need rooms that cost US$8 a night, then Pham Ngu lao may offer some suggestions.

Correct, no gift is not good idea. if no gift for 1st time, then u can kiss her family goodbye
