ROM in Singapore if you wants her to stays in Singapore short-term, long-term, PR or ultimately becoming a Singapore Citizen.

ROM in Vn will cost some money & will need to do alot of paper work. Also you can apply to stay in VN up to 3 mths instead of the usual 1 mth.

Also thats depends on whether she wants it anot but i doubt so because it's not about her but their parents....

Vn is still a very traditional country in terms of customs & beliefs .... In theory, they will want to have a customary wedding ceremony & a wedding reception .... why ??? Answer is "Face Value" .... If you don't hold the ceremony, how the family going to answer to their relatives & the neighbourhood on why a man keep coming to their place, subsequently their daughter got pregnant & have baby. People like to gossip if they spot something to talk about.

Whether ROM or not, maximum for a foreigner to stay is 1-2 mths.

But then since you all are married, you can apply for her a 6 mths Long Term Visitor Pass (LTVP) on-line. Approval takes about 4 weeks and subject to their terms and conditions. Application can only be done if she is in Singapore. LTVP Renewal is every 6 mths.

In fact, you can try to apply straight away PR for her but the process take much more longer in terms of months & years, while waiting for PR to be granted, they will at the mean time issue LTVP to her & likewise renewal is every 6 mths.

FYI ...

1. I have ROM my wife in Singapore.
2. I have gone thru' the Vn customary Ceremony with my wife.
3. I have held a wedding reception in VN for them.
4. I have my full wedding photos taken in VN.
5. I have brought her for her pregnacy check-up @ their local clinic & she is now 3 mths pregnant.
6. I will be applying LTVP for her when she comes in October.

Prepare yr documents ready and send for ltsvp application once yr wife reach, when my wife is pregnant. Within 2 wks i got the approval and its for 1 year which allow me to buy a HDB flat together with my wife name under foreigner spouse scheme.

I constantly drill into her to ensure her family can survive without her or at least she just need to give about $200/mth and that is the max for them. If her brother wants to buy a bike etc, never pay for him but can loan to him. This 5 years, things work well so far. I noted that her character and motive is vital. If your gf only wants more and more money & don't bother at all abt your well-being, then leave her alone. No pt go on especially her family also has the same mind set and take you as carrot head. Sorry, a little long and hope my sharing is constructive.

Great post SG brother. The real test is to say you need money and see how they react. Maybe disappear.

Good day! hope some one who are experienced in viet cultures and living standard can help me in calculating the living expenses of my Bx. Her breakdowns of living expenses for a mth:

1. mthly hse rental( she live in ard D7-D8 area, just a basic 1 rm hse with her mum, her small bro and a baby from her elder bro whom passed away) est rental abt 3mil

2. Internet + cable TV. est 700k??

3. her bro education: he is studying abt sec4 lvl plus with home tutor lessons : 1 mil??

4. basic utility bills: 2mil??

5. medical bills for mum & grandma and allowance for her grandma: 2mil??

6. milk powder for baby: 1 mil??

7. Home cook food : 2mil?

8. Mthly visit to her another elder bro in jail + kopi $$ for guards: 2.5mil?

What i estimated is ard 12 mil/800-900sing based on her expenses she quoted me. Hope some 1 can advice me on the actual expenses. I dont really wan to give too much to her as it is quite taxy for me in the long run and also not good for her mentality .

Firstly, depends on what you and you ex-wfie negotiated and will translate into court documents .....

Secondly, depending on your lawyer to draft the copy and submit to court ...

Thirdly, after submission, depends whether the judge accepts the documents ...

Once done you will be issued the 'Interim Judgement' ... and then subsequently the 'Final Jugdement' and you are done deal ...... and then your name will appear in ICA as 'Divorced' when they do a search on your name.

Can;t share with you the exact time frame but is mine started July 07 and completed mar 08.....

I can only give reference to my cost in Hanoi. Shouldn't different much between Hanoi or HCMC.

1. Can't comment, but looks alright.

2. For internet, it depends on the plan u subscribe. My plan is simple, there is a base monthly cost with free amount of data download, it will charge me more if I exceed this free amount of download but cap at max 550K VND. For cable TV, mine is free. Which includes, ESPN, HBO, Discovery and a lot more.

3. Can't comment.

4. My water bill is always less than 100K. My electricity bill depends on the season, if winter, it will be about 600K VND, if summer then about 1-1.3 mil VND cos of air con, I guess in HCMC, u can consider it always summer.

5. Why will 2 old ladies need allowance??? As for medical, not every mth also sick.

6-8. No comment.

In 1 month, I live like king, including eating out and drinking in pub/entertainment, hugging mm, transportation, maid, etc, exclude my rental. I spend less than 1000SGD.
