Visited Batam yesterday (Sat).

Harbourfront was packed and ferries were mostly fully booked for the earlier ferries. Tried to get a 9am ferry to habourbay but was full liao. But luck shined on me, penguin had a last min cancellation of tickets to batam centre!

Stayed at Puri Garden. Made me realise that if you get a local indonesian guy to book the hotel, it is much cheaper compared to you booking online or walk in. Any old bird please advise on this.

Went over to the level 2 bali spring massage. The rest is Sop.

Me and my buddy went the wrong timing. Last Saturday. Massive jam at both sides customs. Started off all wrong at WTC.
Only managed to get ferry tickets for departure at 12.30pm.
Reached BTM centre and found our favorite hotel Utama fully book until left 1 room. The Kaha guy must be under stress. Can't give us good alternative.
In the end, both of us took the 1 room at Utama.
We didn't do enough home work lor. The trip ended with NO RELEASE. All the time was spent on makan and buying cheap polo t-shirts at matahari at Nagoya Hill Mall.
We nearly got it when we stumble upon Flower Massage very late at night. We went there a bit late and the lady say fully book.....
We recce around DC Mall and found the $ changer give quite good rates (SGD1 = 6840 rph).
We also went to Pagoda Hotel to check the price. The price is cheaper than Utama. But Utama is still better. The lobby at Utama is 4 star standard. The room facilities really no horse run.
Value for $. No wonder fully book until left 1 room. No way I would consider Pagoda.

I saw Romance Hotel. Only when I read info here, then I realised Massage 82 (chicken joint) is nearby.

Haha, I guess we are the rare few who went to BTM but left high n dry. No one will believe us if we say we went there just makan n shopping. But it is the sad truth..........

I think you are refering to Tongkat Ali XP supreme, you can try Tongkat Ali Plus at any chinese medicine shop, A bottle contain 60 capsules and cost $14.50. It don't work immediately like XP, Have to take 2 cap twice daily = 2 in the morning when u wake up & 2 at night b4 you sleep. Need 1 - 2 weeks to feel the effect.

There is another energy booster call Skyfruit, the packet is blue in colour with a picture of an eagle. Take with empty stomach at least 1 hr b4 activity. I feel my body heated the next day, Luckly Harbourfront immgration never scan for H1N1, if not sure knna. Any way the body heat only last for few hour.

Don't go for chinese while in batam, even if u got tonne of $$$ to spend, very rare u can find chinese, i prefer indo cewek which offer value for $$$ and they offer better service than chinese. for social excort u need lobang.
Batam got alot of massage ctn, ktv, fish tank which i think u can find a gem there. All U need is perfect timing and go to the right place at the right time.

Still can't find what u want, hang around formosa hotel, either in between centre point or lucky plaza, sure got alot of taxi abang ask u want char boh, just ask them whether they got lobang for factory worker, just tell them u don't want cewek from all those joint. I alway tell them I been to Alisan ktv, Dynasty 99, Queen 8933, Femina, Indah2, Berlian massage all near formosa area, and lai lai hotel area are Jungle minda, Gold bird, Abi massage, some more windsor foodcourt area got regular cewek from Permata Indah & bougeivilla. Hope u learn something from this trip, never cheong there without advance booking with super long weekend, I also went batam on 8/8/09, call Wavemaster to book ticket 2 days earlier, Manage to take the 11.30 ferry. Once I reach batam I go to the Departure hall immedately to get the boarding pass and tell the counter staff that I am leaving on 10/8/09 at 12.15. This way I am assure of a seat when I pulang home. A group of aunties and uncles make hell of noises when they learn that the next ferry is 2130 when they reach Harbourbay ferry terminal at 1130. Die already lah...how to work tomorrow...must take 1 more day leave lor.

For booking hotel, the most exp is to book on line, secound is walk in, the cheaper is to but hotel voucher, 1 at the ferry terminal after u clear immgration, another opposite harmoni hotel call KAHA. The different between hotel voucher and walk in is not great, about 20000 - 40000rp only. This also depend on the hotel itself and whether got breadfast (1 pax or 2 pax)

Bro Cerberus, don't feel bad. This is normal as Batam is close to Sg and a lot of kiasu cultures being brought to here! Very normal.

Some regular here, like me really share same sentiment, especially public holidays, all the bros flooded Btm. All the girls being booked right immediately after the doors open! Imagine that!

After saying these, I think Batam is more for laojiao and those with "contact".

Those girls also funny, don't know really for money or for joys.

Yes, I agreed Utama is good value for $$$, their superior cost 300000rp room is nice and clean, AC, heater & TV sure work and some more alot of channel.
Due to the holiday most of the hotel are fully booked, cannot blamed the KAHA guy. Actually U can try Harbourbay Amir hotel, Hotel 89, Swiss-Inn which still got afew room, but had to wait 1-2 hours for the room, I stay at 89 hotel (360000rp) which is slightly exp from Utama, Some more only 5 mins walk from hotel to Windsor foodcourt. ( Entrance of Windsor turn left, 1st lane is Jungle minda & 2nd lane bougeivilla) At night went there to drink beer, can see alot of beer girl cantik, some more uncles & unties sing karaoke.

80 percent from java come to batam because of money, they got no choice, village no work, parent old already cannot continue to work in the farm. some even got kids to support, hasband mia ??? the other 10-20 per cent want joy, see those cewek makan obat dan goyang kepala (shake head) at pacific disco, u know what i mean

We took the 245000 rph room. Should be normal room. But the standard of room far exceed my expectations. I'm sticking with Utama no matter what. Another reason is there are 2 chio chn recep which I kinda like.
We did try booking Swiss-Inn, but fully book lor.

Overall, the trip wasn't very disappointing. We enjoy makan-ing n shopping. The nice polo indo shirts are a steal. I'm quite small size but the Indo shirts suits me to a T. Should had visited BTM earlier n done my shopping here instead. A bit regret should had at least try one of the massage joints.
Even if we had gone to the chicken farms, my best guess there won't be much good selection and the OKTs will quote sky high price. Some of the taxi drivers already start quoting 40k to 50k rph for short journey!!
As my buddy said, we just went at the wrong timing......

Ramadan coming, Hari Raya holidays after that, most gals would have returned to home in Java, fewer selections until about 2 months after Hari RAya before things will be back to normal.

Long weekends are the worst time to go. Try weekdays, or the latest, Friday nites, which can be quite packed also. Saturdays are usually packed from the morning.

Food is cheap there, if you know where to eat, and there are good deals too. Beer is about 15K per bottle in A1 food court. Drink until you drop also can. Seafood is cheap too. In A1 try Samamdra stall, the one near the Kara Ok stage. Reasonable prices and best food stall there. IMHO.

Harbour Front is beening renovated now, and there is going to be a carefour store in the new mall, opening about December. Alot of food stalls will be opened and they are selling the cheaper food.
