Those female auntie custom officer are like our old time seconadary school teacher; ugly old hag, strict, stern look, fierce and usaully wear those 60's fashioned specs. Thier attitude and questioning towards those Viet gals are like as if somebody them alot money and they are having a PMS at the same time. Scary...

I fly been flying between HCM City and Singapore for the past years. From what i have observe, there's a few types of Vietnamese gals that Singapore immigration officers like to tekan:

(1) Viet gals that show half neh neh, wear sibei tight BEBE tops etc. These gals need no introduction, 1 look and you'll know she's a WL.

(2) Gals with damm a lot of singapore entry/exit chops in the passport but is not working in Singapore

(3) gals with not much money with them and claim that they are here for a tour;

(4) Cat (1) gals that claim that their bf are singaporean.

Immigration officer doesn't care if their bf are singaporean. Under the law, the viet gal can have ease of entry and exit if she possess PR or LTSVP. This means that the gal have to be officially married to a singaporean man and be granted the legal resident status. But from experience, Viet gals are look down by most immigration officers in Singapore. Immigration officers tend to have the idea that only singaporean man of low education and income will marry Viet gals. i don't wish to be crude, but vietnamese passport is very much useless internationally. Its difficult to pass thru any developed nation's immigration with a vietnamese passport.

Even marrying Singaporean man doesn't ensure that the Viet gals can stay. I have come across a singaporean man who is jobless. He is not officially employed. The viet gal he met at JC thought that she can continue to stay in Singapore as long as she marries a Singaporean. The couple ROM with ease but met with great difficulty when the singaporean man was trying to apply for LTSVP. The immigration officer asked for his employment letter and he couldn't produce. There she goes..... all the way back to Vietnam. Plan foiled and the lady filed for divorce 1 month after marrying that singaporean man. Not long after, that Singaporean man saw his `wife' with another singaporean man at JC again.

Bro, not all viet gals are prettier la. I saw some viet gals at JC with Singaporean man. I wonder what BEAUTY the man see in that viet lady. Standing next to him, i see no beauty but lots of ugliness... hahah

I agreed with you on this. Even with my first time observation at the SG custom, I can sense from the officer's attitude and facial expression. And it wasn't just the ICA ppl. Sometimes when i am with my gal at makan places and she answered her phone in Vietnamese language, ppl sharing the same table stared at her as if she is an alien and then also look at me, in a way scrutinising me from head to toe, as if a rating was given to me. Surely it wasn't a good rating either, judging from thier disapproving expression.

Even my best buddy for whom I am with when i first met my gal constantly reminds me not to get serious with Viet gals, citing that these gals are useless, unworthy, loose women. He advice me to toy with her and bed her and dump her WTF.. if he was suspectful of her whatever "evil intention" and tries to play the angel role then how come still feeds me with such distasteful scheme?? The Straits Times reported that `Four in 10 S'poreans marry foreigners'. Some extracts from the report:

`Of the 20,775 marriages involving at least one citizen, 8,086 Singaporeans were hitched to non-citizen spouses. Of the 8,086 people, 6,200 were men and 1,886 were women. '

The report further stated that ` the largest group of Singaporean male singles are usually lower educated while the female singles are usually higher educated'

The typical idea that Singaporeans have about vietnamese spouses are that they married singaporean man with low income and low education, just to gain resident status in Singapore. Maybe its the large number of marriage agencies offering vietnamese brides. To illustrate how singaporeans are KPO and look down on Vietnamese spouses:

Just recently, my neighbour found out that my wife is vietnamese and she asked me why i hire 2 maids to do housework? she asked me if the marriage agency told me vietnamese spouses can do housework themselves? KNN, i shoot her down immediately. I told her that whether i employ 1 , 2 or 3 maids doesn't concern her and i didn't BUY a viet wife. I told her her statements showed that she's damm ignorant!!

BTW, the newspaper always show old hagged singaporean woman with SWM. Always showing how good it is to marry SWM. I think its time they show how the SWM turns nasty and divorce the Singaporean woman in the shortest time.

Many singaporean think that those man that do not hv the standard to get a SG wife will look for viet or PRC wife. I thk this situation will take years for singaporean to change their mindset.

As for SG gals to marry SWM, they thk that they r very high classes by marrying a SWM. KNN.

on my trip back from vietnam recently, every single vietnamese in the plane got extended interviews with the custom officers separately. guys/gals, well-dressed/decently dressed, cash/no cash, didnt matter, everyone also check -,-

Thank you for sharing....I think this is the stigma for those who married Vn wife will have to face....this is happening because all the bad press reported locally for Vn gals....Just live your blissful marriage and ignored the gossipers..

As long as u r not ang mo, these good for nothing civil servant tends to look down on ppl even s'porean.

As usual in a lot of countries I been to, ang mo is still more popular.... I just wonder y.

When someone marries an ang mo... it is likes "wow he/she si beh steady". But when someone marries a PRC/Viet/Thai and so on... it is when all nasty words behind your back.
