Com Tam = "Broken Rice"

Com Tam is to Nguoi Viet what Chicken Rice is to Singaporean.

It's the basic staple, standard config comes with grilled pork chop, fried egg, some lettuce/cucumber/carrots and some sauce that is spicy-sour.

So far, the Com Tam in Singapore... haven't had a nice one. From the $4.50 ones to the $15 plates BX and I have tried.... they're pretty terrible.

It is the same, went to "Siam kitchen", food taste like shit n expensive but still a lot of ppl eat

Becos it is expensive so pple eat...if cheap no one want to eat roi....

I ate com tam at china town b4..it taste almost the same as VN except that the rice is alittle different

Quite true, SG always eat expensive food. Even in HCMC, the way they eat in 1 meal is almost the same as normal viet eat for a week.

I think i hv try b4! the serving is very small, i hv 2 take 2 plates.

The 'broken rice' taste good! it is more fragrance than SG rice.

For 1 whole year, it was my breakfast almost daily. I will always have more rice, 2 portions of BBQ pork, 2 eggs and 1 cup of cafe sua da. It was later when i shifted that i found another store that serves good pork noodles soup. Miss my days there, breakfast is always nice and cheap

The rice is different as they use BROKEN RICE there, plus they don't put the rice into rice cooker, they steam the rice and use a piece of cloth to drain out the mist.

after coming back to Singapore, i have not tasted any vietnamese food that taste as good as those back in Vietnam. That's why i spend most of my time eating when i go on my monthly Saigon business trip
