Question: if I were to wanna get tuition for my child in Vn from an Ang moh, how much would it cost?

I will send him back here to start his primary sch. But would like him to be able to match his peers in terms of language.

thanks, i have the AP card, i presently can only stay for 60 days with it but can just get out n return to continue staying for a unlimited period but i wonder if this is possible for vietnam ie will they not allpow entry if you go in n out continuously using the AP card or the one month ASEAN visa

actually, we can generally classify westerners that come to asia into two groups , one group are the freelancers who have been doing menial jobs for most part of their lives n is focused on living life the way they like without any career aspirations. Majoriy of this class like to travel n see the world so they teach eng to enable them to do so .
the other group are those who have regular jobs n are more like asians , some of this group still come over to teach english just to occupy their time n socialise n earn $ to pay off basic expenses but most of them who have had a decent job in the past will have sufficient funds to live reasonably well without working cos they receive monthly social welfare payment from the govt . For US n Canadian citizens, most of those who have retired can typically receive 3-4k usd per month even for normal ranking employees , Northern Europe have even better social welfare benefits with Germany being the most generous, german citizens pay about 45% in taxes per month when they are working but once they are retired, they are paid a monthly stipend amounting to 80% of their last drawn pay till they die where these payments are then transferred to the spouse n continue till he /she dies hence in europe, germans are the biggest vacationers cos for those that are working, they can freely spend their earnings without worrying of getting broke when they grow old while for those who r retired, they can continue to spend cos they get paid monthly .
US citizens who live abroad have to report to the embassy once every 3 months cos the US govt wants to check n ensure that they r alive before contionuing on the payments .
that's why for the westerners, they hv another way of playing the VBs by telling them that " u better treat me well n ensure that i live well cos when i go, the monthly payment i get will go too" . that's why lots of westerners with monthly pension pocket $ can afford to go retire in thailand n vietnam with young local gfs
i do not know of the russian system but there r lots of russians in their 50-60s who frequently go to nha trang n book 18-20 yr old VBs for one week to 3 month special gf assignments , its so prevalent that lots of signage n even restaurant menus r in russian

Your 2 groups might be your classification and not all true. How "talented" can a white be, with only option teaching English in Asia? How many are truly qualified in Asia to teach? Most so called school dun bother to check these whites qualification. They assume, a white will teach better English than Asian. The irony is Spanish, French... are whites.

I agreed with you and think this bro had insufficient knowledge of expat community and staying in Vietnam...

He may not have joined the HCM expat group and know the community,,,I knew many of us are member of the groups...I am not joined in the hanoi group...

His comment on Nha Trang is a flawed...the Russian who traveled to Vietnam are mainly paid to bring goods and back...the Russian community is still relatively small and kept to themselves...they hang around the beach and tourists places...hardly ventured into local heartland of Nha Trang...they also avoid expensive hotels and restaurants too...

I had been to Nha Trang and intend to stay a long period there soon...I hardly see Russian hooking with cutie nice local gals...mostly they can get the uglier and more matured gals...btw most russians came with spouse/partners...

When I was in Nha Trang, we eat and drink at local cafes and restaurants, hardly can see caucasians....I will provide more info when I stay there longer...^^

Only bro who knew the expat community can make such comments...when I joined the expat group 4 years ago...I was surprised to learn that 90% are teaching English...in a shared house...all tenants can be teachers...most of these expat will advertise asking to be English teachers...so when Thailand tighten the screw on teachers....Vietnam inherited 60%...so some of the epxats become part time sales for some landlords...trying to intro rental rooms to expats...

Many of these expats had lived in Asia for years...many commented they have no jobs when they go back to their country and insists to live in Asia...Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia top choice...

In expat section...the ang moh tried to scam saying fell down admitted hospital, wallet stolen, got robbed...then started asking for money to buy ticket to go home...in actual fact the ang mohs spent all their money on gals or tours...

The same news were all over the expat sections...the gal got slammed by most of their own expats...
