Sorry to be frank, I think your parents in law take you for granted. I do not know how many relatives and friends your parent in law invited but 10K is too much. Like other bros had say, if you still continue to give their parent in law allowance, they will think that you will support them for the rest of their lives. I told my BX that i can continue to help your family until we had our first kid. I will stop giving them anymore allowance cos I had to think of our baby.

In Singapore, it is not easy to bring a a kids like in VN. In Singapore we talk a lot on education. This will kill you in the future.

bro,i beg to differ for this point..i have many friends that actually went back to Singapore for good in order for their kids to have a better n cheap education.

in Singapore, our kids can easily get cheap n good education in government schools where we are being subsidised pretty good from Primary to Secondary.but in Vietnam, for foreigners and those rich Vietnamese,in order for their kids to have a good and proper education.many actually enroll their kids in International Schools..and gosh..the school fees are really horrible

about 2 years ago,the 9 year old son of a friend of mine is studying in an International School operated by Americans..and the school fees is about 20k Usd per annum..

wondering what kind of teaching system is being used...

haha...maybe you can read this article...caring for old aged parent is subjective because of different medical problems...

http://www.tremeritus.com/2013/07/03...-doing-enough/

but not one article can give an extimate how much it cost to maintain an aging parent...partly cannot estimate how long a parent will love to ripe age...

best is to have personal savings when old and dun burden the young...

Some will get toooo used to it and I agree ...

When my baby was having difficulty, we put in yao lan .. ends up my wife suffers coz need to wake up and shake

But then .. Suddenly one day ... my baby girl tells my wife she doesn't want to sleep on the yao lan and want to sleep on the bed with my wife ... So starting from 2.3 years onwards ... she now sleeps on the bed in-between us or sometimes with my grandmother in-law.

Guess habit will change as they grows .. my 2 daughters also sleep alot in yao lan ... but then it fades away when they grew older.

never use the sarong or yao lan...these will create a habit and baby will grow into comfort zone..just use a baby cot...simulate a hospital environment with air-con and full wrapped with blanket...the key is to simulate a hospital environment...how baby get used to it the first few days oh his life...

see by the time baby dun want to sleep in yao lan already baby is more than 2 years old and wife or parents already grew very stressed and tired waking up in the nite....alright if wife not working...many wives are working and cannot stand the stressed...that is why mother is great in this sense...

Maybe I can share with you my journey with my 3rd baby gal :

1. Breastfeeding.

- Breastfeeding for less than a year as 1 day suddenly don't want to drink breast milk.

2. Do not like to drink milk from Milk Bottle from birth till about age 2.

- Got to buy those milk bottle with a spoon to feed her.
- Only drink from bottle if its water.

* Now at the age of 2.3 then she love to drink milk from milk bottle. She can drink up to 1 big bottle of milk + 1 small bottle of water prior to sleep. During her sleep she can drink up to 2-3 small bottle of water.

3. Poor Sleep Cycle.

- Always sleep for 2 - 3 hours and then wake up cry and make sounds.
- ALwasy need to pad her to sleep ...
- First sleep in baby cot and then change to the vietnamese hammock and sing songs to her.
- "Hammock" is her play ground, always climb in and out.

* Suddenly 1 day she stops sleeping in the "Hammock" and Now she sleeps on the bed ... enjoy sleeping in aircon without a blanket.

4. Can eat porridge for 2 hours.

5. My no-no for her.

- NO and was Never on Pacifier.
- NO and Never Suck her thumb.

6. My Daughter Now.

- Loves to eat Strawberry.
- Eats Chocolate.
- Loves to eat things that are sour.
- Occasionally drinks Coke, Pepsi, and etc.
- Love to eat Crab Meat, Chao Ech ...
- Now dine with us with her own bowl and eat with chopsticks.
- Loves Ice Cream and Yoghurt.
- Scared Durian.
- Speak Vietnamese , A little English and can Understand English and Mandarin.
- Loves to seat on bike and can fell asleep on bike.
- Now can Pester you to go Shopping.

7. My Belief.

- When its time for her to turn, she will turn.
- When its time for her to Stand up, she will stand up.
- When its time for her to walk, she will walk.
- When it happens, it will happens.

In Summary, maybe this is my 3rd, so I abit like relax ... however I enjoyed the bringing up of my 3rd gal ...

For you my friend ... this is the time for exploration, understand your wife, understand your baby ... Don't be too stress about it ... otherwise I can GUARANTEE you WILL Missed alot during his growing up ... I probably have missed some parts on my previous 2 daughters ... so I can tell you ... what you have missed will never gona to come back ... Make full use of the time you have and enjoy the journey ..

IF here don't work out, maybe go back to Vietnam for a while and relax and enjoy the growing up ...

Look at wider picture and think thru' what you want to do ...

Yeah ... agree ... sometimes when couple is in stress and dunno want to do, the shortest cut is to shake the baby to sleep either in baby cot, sarong or yao lan ..

however , the pain is behind having to wake up and shake ...

I am fortunate to have my MIL to take care of that portion ... my wife is her only daughter ... and she loves this grandchild ... she will do anything for both of them ...

In Summary , I am fortunate to have such a good MIL ... and never have to headache thinking about stupid problems.

In the past, I used to get car sick too. Like H88 say motion sickness pill can help but in VN, there is a plaster which can stick beside the ear. It help a lot for car sick. You got to let her used to it if not it wont cure.

I was a cadet as a sailor before and my Captain told me eating of pills are temporary cure only. The only to cure sea sick is to endure and used to it.I think it works well for me, and I think it should be the same for car sick.

joe6057 deserves a Tiger! - He's a Good Guy
Hi bro/sis,

Recently I met a girl from Vietnam & I will say love at first sight. We might get marry if the feeling can stay. Right now she is with me in Singapore with social visit pass. My question is if I like to bring her to Malaysia for holiday, is there anything I need to help her to apply through Singapore or Malaysia? Any input is appreciated. Thanks for reading & have a nice day.
