The taxi driver who drove us to Terang Bintang told us that Batam Star lvl3 is known for unnatural happenings. I am not disturbed at any time during this trip maybe because I eat pork lol.

Actually sounds like a classic case of sleep paralysis to me.

Oh that hotel. Quite far from jetty. Stayed there before. Understand last time was a cemetery. Should be a Chinese cemetery since the apparition was a lady with red dress.

In Batam, I always book gal, abit scare to sleep alone. Most hotels that I stayed, so far so good (touch wood). Young cheongsters might not believe, it is better to knock the room door first before you enter and say some good words like “ Sorry ya, I am just staying for 2 nights……………” If you think they don’t understand, just say “Assalamualaikum………… “ Yes, you may laugh but night time if you hear running tap water from toilet or some gal laughing from nowhere if you are alone. Lucky....didnt have any "special" feelings.

Here's what I do if happened to be alone....applies to hotels in other countries as well.

Usually I will leave the toilet lights on and I switch the TV on.....
Just tune to some channels with boring programs when prepare to sleep.
I also bring out my thai amulet and rosary beads and put on the small table at the side.
Sleep at the centre of the bed even though is King Size bed.

Darn...reading all these spooky happenings at this time really spooks me up...

Very true with regards to Formosa. Long time no stay in this hotel. Now into Hotel89 although i am aware of the past incident at Hotel89. I love this hotel cos when u pull away the curtain (facing the main road), its so bright.

Planet Disco - at Planet Holiday Hotel. The smallest among these 3. Seedy and dark, not really recommended if one does not feel comfortable in a place with ill reputation.

Planet 3 ("Planet Tiga") - near Jodoh. Nice place and well patronized, but icy aircondition.

Ozone Disco - Closed (unverified,known to be the worst)


5. Live Music

Do not leave your drinks unattended at these places. A few expats have been drugged & robbed.Keep your HP secured.

Noname – Located on the ground floor of the Harmoni Hotel is a popular live music venue for locals and expats. Most of the acts are flown in from Jakarta and one of the best place to meet local ladies.

Java Pub – just reopened, and has live music on Friday & Saturday. Older crowd, (like Jaya pub JKT but smaller) Comfortable place to hang out.

Bingo’s Pub – just opened and has live music on Friday’s & Saturdays. Good place, nice staff and occasional celebrity entertainers popping in for a song or jam. A nice alternative to the usual very loud rap / trance pubs.

Sullivans – Used to be Ria Rita and has live music on the weekends. Mostly a local crowd. Across the street from the side entrance of Lusys (helps to speak Bahasa – mostly local gals).

Yes,i agreed with you,but not disappointed tho. About half a dozen people has been rumored to have pass on in just Formosa as its pretty popular among Sillyporean.Last one i heard was couple of months back from "tonic V" overdose,in 2014.

Hi bro...remember i used to come up with a list of Haunted Batam Hotels some time ago,but i stop updating the listing after knowing that the list will eventually cover nearly 90% of hotels in Batam if i continue...lol. The ONLY 2 hotels i die die will avoid is Batam Star and Hotel Bali. And i believe its all that needs to be known.Other than that,speculating may result in many who will mistaken that its the whole hotel that is haunted,but in truth it is not. Its more like the room having supernatural occurrence instead, rather than the whole hotel.

If so,then i already have the address,but if one were to give this card to most taxi driver/or ojek in Batam,they will not be able to know the place.And it may be the old address. I have been to their new location twice,but could not find a landmark area to pinpoint its exact location,eg near which hotel/shopping mall/eatery etc etc. All i know is ,there is a Bird Shop/pet shop beside it.

My next trip,i will need to locate it,to pin point their exact location. Nonetheless,i sincerely thank you for your verification.

Yes,it is...but after personally verifying the "new" New Berry on Nov and Dec 2014,i might lift the ban on the list (and my signature) as service standard seems to improve.They have been banned for nearly a year. I just need one last verification this Jan 2015,hehehe...on my next trip as New Berry is one of my test subject. (all of the joints are)

For your info,the OKTs of New Berry knew about their ban only since about 4-5 months or so ago,it does affect their business quite a bit and guess they are hoping for a new start when they shift to their new place.
