Out of 10 vietnamese man i meet, 8 are useless. The vietnamese society is mainly divided into the rich (including politicians, businessman), the middle class (educated working adults) and the poor.

The Rich Vietnamese - These rich vietnamese normally hope to be able to attain the citizenship of western countries, while still stay in Vietnam to earn the money. New to this group are the businessman who got rich thru many means like property investments, stock investments and other form of businesses. They normally want to send their children to the western countries like USA, UK and Europe. But due to insufficient evidence of income (as most of them do not report income tax), the visas for their children are normally not granted. Then they choose to come Singapore. (actually majority of students who come singapore are those that failed the university entrance exams). These young vietnamese man are pretty lazy and often indulge themselves in alcohol. After a few years in Singapore (with damm frequent trips back to vietnam in between), they go back to Vietnam without any certificate. They just hope to depend on their parents and the wealth created by their parents to live a lifetime.

The Middle Class Vietnamese - this is an emerging group in vietnam. Although still small, but they are the professionals. They are educated in Vietnam (as their families are normally not rich enuff to send them abroad) and find themselves landing in average paying jobs. They work hard and often find themselves climbing the corporate ladder. These are the vietnamese man that commands respect.

The poor - uneducated and lazy, young man from this group often depend on their family members for survival. If they have any relative abroad, they will ask them for monthly pocket money. They prefer to seat in a cafe and waste their life away then to work hard. Parents often also allow their sons to waste their life this way while asking and pressuring their daughters to work as WL to support the whole family.

Agreed that the young men there just pass their time playing cards when I was there in April for attachment. Sometimes, the guy who rear a fighting cock will meet challenge from another distict and they will lay bet on the one that wins. Once the fighter cock loses the match, they will cook it and goes togther with their drinking session at night.

The viet guys to me are just waiting to be feed, and 90% useless, no wonder so many viet gals don't like them.

To them, if they have any siblings abroad, they will just depend on them (especially gals) for income. I'm another victim...Feel sorry for my baxa's family. Her mum used to chalk up huge lottery debts and expect lim peh to pay...KNN!! Bro , Bro. This is normal. When i married my wife, her mother says she wants to built a house in the province. Not knowing the market price of such a house in the province then, i easily give in to her demand of US$6000. After that, she told me again that my wife needs gold for the wedding dinner and took another US$2000 from me.

Guess what? After that, i realised that the house only cost US$2000 and the she pocketed US$4000 . Further to that, she took all the gold from the wedding and sold it off for another nearly US$2000 after the wedding. KNNB. She pocketed nearly US$6000 from the wedding alone. After the wedding, she says she wants me to give US$300 a month for the family, but i told her its impossible. During that time, my wife still blurr in Vietnam. Everything was for her family. My wife and i argued a lot and almost divorced. But i endured and later brought my wife back to Singapore. My wife now understand well that her mother doesn't dote on her, just use her as money making machine. Nowadays, i happy then i give her US$100. My wife also only call home like once a month or once in 2 months.

Once your wife understands the situation, your life will be good. It took me nearly 3 years to let my wife understand.

To be fair, not only viet culture, most poor countries are like this. Parents depend on daughters to provide daily needs.
