Why make singles pay more for 2-room flats?

It is puzzling why singles have to pay more. Remaining single should not be discriminated against and penalised, much less by the authorities, which have been trying to build an inclusive society. The demographic landscape of Singapore has changed in the past decades, with more choosing to remain single, or marrying at a later age. These singles could opt to purchase their own flat if they meet HDB's eligibility criteria. Unfortunately, HDB policies do not seem to have taken this demand into consideration. All Singaporeans, whether singles or married couples, deserve equal rights to build their home in Singapore. Karen Kwan Ting Qian (Ms) Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
