Frequently used terms in Chinese
This thread is to help some brothers who wish to understand the Chinese terms use in this forum. All brothers who are good in the Chinese Language are welcome to add on to my chart or make corrections for the benefits of all brothers here. It is good not to neglect our Big Heads and occasionally gives our Big Heads some education and maintains them in full control while our little heads bash around brainlessly.
I shall start off with 3 frequently used terms: Mo Sha 摩 沙 Mo 2nd sound, Sha 1st sound. Pronounced as mor-sa Body and limbs scrub using a sand like cream Tui Na 推 拿 Tui 1st sound, Na 2nd sound. Pronounced as Thui-na Traditional Chinese massage to relieve muscle cramps on the limbs and back. Zhua Gen 抓 根 Zhua 1st sound, Gen 1st sound. Pronounced as jua-gan. gen sounds like gan as in organ Traditional Chinese massage of the Prick and groin areas to straighten the veins and strenghten the erection. Brothers, my chart is in nice Excel format. But I don't know how to insert it here. Anyone can help so that it can be easily updated by all who are keen to contribute. Thanks. |

Re: Frequently used terms in Chinese. Version 1.1
Ba Huo Guan 扒火罐
The whole meaning means a Chinese traditional therapy using a bamboo cup to extract air from a patient’s skin. A small piece of cloth damped with alcohol is first ignited and then inserted into the bamboo cup for a few seconds to expel some air inside. The warmed bamboo cup is then pressed firmly onto the patient’s skin where rheumatism or other muscle pains is experienced. As the bamboo cup cools, the air inside contracts and creates suction, which will then sucks out some air and moisture under the patient’s skin. The combination of heat and suction simulates the tissues under the patient’s skin and relieves the patient’s pain. Frequent therapy will slowly heals the patient’s rheumatism. Modern method uses glass containers in the shape of a rounded flask with short neck.Mo Sha 摩 沙
It means body and limbs scrub using a sand like cream.Tui Na 推 拿

Pronounced as jua-gan. The word "gen" sounds like "gan" as in the word "organ". It is a traditional Chinese massage of the Prick and groin areas to straighten the veins for easy flow of blood and so strenghtens the erection. |

Re: Frequently used terms in Chinese. Version 1.2
Every word in Chinese is pronounced in 4 sounds. I mean each word is pronounced in the same way but in 4 pitches. The word will have different meanings when pronounced in different pitches and the words are written differently too!
For example:
Here we go: Ba Huo Guan 扒火罐

Re: Frequently used Chinese Terms
Brother laserbeam, good effort and clear explanations.
Keep it up! Let me correct you. Hope you don't mind. Jua Gen 抓 根 should be written as Zhuo Gen 捉根 Zhuo 捉 is to catch with hands while Jua 抓 is to grip with claws. If the girl do Jua Gen 抓 根 for you, your Didi 弟弟 will be badly hurt man! See the word Jua 抓 , it symbolizes a hand and claw. Pei Du Mama (PDMM) 陪读妈妈 means PRC mothers who come to Singapore to accompany her children to study here. |

Re: Frequently used terms in Chinese
Brother cchisq, I am not a Chinese teacher but just a technical instructor.
I am a English educated and grown up among brothers, sisters and friends who are Chinese educated. I read their Chinese novels and they helped me along to improve my Chinese during my primary school days. That was where I built up my strong foundation and keen interest in the Chinese language. Today I still pick up new words from my PRC friends. And yes, brother owen,, my contribution here is a little late but still relevant because Chinese terms are still widely used by Singaporean gals in HC and KTV even before TNs and PDMMs are born! OK, following is my revision 1.3 as promised. Enjoy your reading and welcome any corrections and suggestions. |
