Thumbs up PAP woo Hougang voters with 24-hour cheap food

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

A 24-hour non-profit hawker centre will be opened in the Workers’ Party Opposition Ward at the People’s Association (PA) Ci Yuan Community Club in August 2015, announced the National Environment Agency (NEA) today (Jun 8). The hawker centre, located inside the PA Community Club along Hougang Avenue 9, will, according to PA, feature “food items at lower prices to act as a benchmark for other stalls”.

The new 5 storey-hawker centre will have a 640 person capacity with up to 40 cooked food stalls, with an open air concept at its top floor. In a press release by the NEA:

“Residents can look forward to enjoying affordable food at the new centre, which will also be equipped with tray-return facilities, natural ventilation and family-friendly features such as child-friendly toilet facilities and family-friendly seating.”

The hawker centre will be managed by Fei Siong Food Management will be non-profit, and the food stall rental will range from S$1,500 to S$1,800, which is about the average monthly market rate paid by existing stall owners in Hougang. Hougang residents will be assured that the food prices will be “moderated” from 80 cents coffee to $2.80 fish ball noodles.

Will you vote the PAP for a hawker centre?
