What's your cuisine of choice? UE Square/Robertson Quay has lots of nice restaurants with decent ambience. Dempsey is tried and tested. MBS has a few michellin star places.
The thing about recommendations is that taste is subjective. You should go experiment for yourself to see what works for you and what does not.
