I was to compare the items and make sure that the sales contract materials matched against those in the PO and also check that the items ordered were the correct items to be used for that building purpose.

Keng would be checking the same set of documents on his laptop to ensure that the quantity ordered was not in excess. This was a more difficult process as he could only rely on his experiences to do an estimation based on the sales order and floor plan.

Finally, Augustino was to check the price on the POs and match them against the historical records in the system.

It took us a few hours and finally we found 4 fraudulent sets.

All of Ong's projects were taken care of either by Tony or Ahmad, our 3rd Project Manager, and those that had suspicious activities were only handled by Tony. On top of that, the materials for all these suspicious sets were done by Cecilia, one of the 3 Procurement persons in our company. So it was apparent that both Tony and Cecilia were also involved.

Augustino: fuck.... I can't believe this....

Me: sigh..... I can't believe Tony is involved....

There was silence for a moment as the 3 of us let the results sink in. Finally, Keng spoke.

Keng: Vic.... are you going to report this to Mr Quek?

Mr Quek was our GM.

Ong was employed by Jacob. Jacob was recommended by the Finance Manager, Lawrence. Lawrence was Mr Quek's right hand man. If they were all in cahoots together and I reported it directly to Mr Quek, I would be digging my own grave. This was not the route to go and I already had a plan but I was not going to share it with them.

Yesterday, I had found out that for 2 of the fraudulent projects, expensive materials were quoted but these materials were not fit to be used for their intended building purposes. Someone with Ong's experiences should not have quoted and even if it was quoted by accident, the Project Manager should spot the mistake immediately but Tony had kept quiet about it.

I had gotten the names of the clients and as such, I set up 2 separate email accounts. From there, I pretended to be these clients and sent 2 standalone emails to our CEO in HQ, complaining about the quote and materials used for their projects.

This will give HQ ample reason to look into the projects.

For the other 2 fraudulent projects, a different supplier was used instead of the standard ones that worked with our company normally. As such, I suspected that this new supplier was also involved in their fraud.

In one 1 of these POs, the pricing for the materials was way too expensive but in Cecilia's remarks as to why she had used a different supplier, she had given the reason that it was because there were no stocks available from our standard supplier.

In the other PO, Keng had spotted that Cecilia had ordered excessive materials for the project. However, there was no mention of the remaining extra materials by Tony after the project was completed.

So for these remaining 2 suspicious projects, I set up another 2 emails accounts and sent the details as an anonymous whistleblower to our Group Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer in our HQ.

I was sure that with these emails, an internal investigation would take place soon.

While I waited for the company HQ to take action and over the next 9 days, I continued to provide assurance to my wife and she was slowly recovering from her mental anguish.

In the meantime, she continued to look for job but was still unable to get even an interview and by the 14th of July, she decided to set up her own web-based company. As she was working for an event company previously and still had the contacts of her previous overseas clients, she was sure that she would be able to help these clients to organize virtual events.

I was supportive of her and on the 16th of July, she registered and started her own company.

Throughout the past 2 weeks, I still had to continue to go to work and my hate for Jacob continued to fester. However when he appeared in the office, I had no choice but to control myself as much as possible and pretended that I did not know what he had done to my wife.

On the other hand, neither of them requested to drink at my place anymore and they also did not bother my wife again. Jacob went back to the his disgusting false pretense of protecting women again.

Finally, on the 20th of July, some plain clothes personnel paid a visit to our company. I overheard that they introduced themselves as CAD officers and were shown into our big meeting room. Mr Quek went into the room with them.

Ong, Tony and Cecilia were called back to the office and once they arrived, they were also asked to go into the meeting room.

Not surprisingly, Jacob came back as well. He asked our receptionist where the 3 colleagues were and immediately rushed into the meeting room, slamming the door behind him.

30 minutes later, he came out and stormed back into his room.

Before long, the 3 of the staff were led away by the officers and various documents were collected.

Neither Mr Quek nor our HR bothered to explain anything to us but I knew what was happening. Keng was at a site but Augustino raised his eyebrows at me knowingly.

That night, when I told Serene that Ong had been arrested, she was partially relieved because part of the revenge had been completed. However, she still wanted revenge on Jacob, for penetrating her and for taking the video of her sister and preventing Ong from being arrested for rape instead.

Over the next few weeks, a few of our staff were called up to the CAD team's office to help with the investigation and Jacob was one of them. However, he was not arrested and it was apparent that the 3 ex-colleagues had taken the rap for him.

On the 27th of July, Mr Quek finally sent out an email. He told us that some of our company's employees were arrested for commercial crimes committed against the company and would not be returning to work any more. Although he did not name them, everyone obviously knew who they were.

In the afternoon, our HR department placed a recruitment advertisement for a Project Manager but nothing for the sales and procurement posts. I suspected that no replacement would be done since there was a general slowdown in business anyway.

On the night of the 8th of August, Serene and I eventually had sex again but that was only the first of many steps back to normality for the both of us.

A new guy joined the company on the 17th of August as the Project Manager to take over Tony's projects. He was only a few years older than me but he was very experienced and started to work on my projects without a hitch.

It was a complete roulette for me and could go either way. If he was working with Jacob, he will sack me and tell Jacob that I was going after him and that would be the end of the story for my revenge.

On the other hand, even if he was working with Jacob, he might decide to protect himself first and help me with my request.

My best bet was that he was not involved with Jacob in anyways and help me with my request.

No matter what the scenario was, I see that I only had a 50% chance of success but I was going to risk it.

Somehow, by pure coincidence, a more concrete opportunity presented itself 2 days later.

I had just met up with a potential customer at a coffee place and after the discussion was completed, I was heading for my bike when I walked past a coffeeshop and saw Jacob. He was sitting at a table and talking to another guy.

After Serene had changed back to her clothes, Shawn dropped us home while Ben remained at the location to mingle with customers.

That night, once we were home, I send the information to all the necessary government agencies anonymously.

1 week later, Jacob stopped coming to the office and HR told the employees that he had resigned. At the same time, Shawn told me that his contacts had told him about what had happened to Jacob.

On a side note, Shawn continued to work as a Project Manager and reminded me not to tell anyone of his status in the company.

On the 12th of October, I was called into Mr Quek's office.

Shawn was sitting on Mr Quek's work desk while Mindy was sitting on Mr Quek's lap on the sofa.

Shawn stood up and walked over to me before placing his hand on my shoulder.

Shawn: Vic.... I've decided to promote you to the Head of Sales..... show me what you can do....

Me: Thanks boss.... I'll make sure that the sales team bring in more money for the company.....

Shawn: good..... and the first thing I want you to do is to hire a new sales person to take over your current post....

Over the next few days, our HR published the job postings and filtered off the candidates before arranging them for me to interview.

The first 10 candidates were not too bad and I was waiting in my room for the 11th.

Since I was already tired, I did not really look through the resumes any more and was shocked when Jamie stepped into my room.

Jamie: Hi Vic.... I've just graduated and I'm here for the interview.....
