Probably never. Sooner or later the world is going to have to get its head out of its ass and realise this is nothing more than a new strain of the flu that just kills more at the start because nowhere has herd immunity to it yet.

The sacrifices society has made, the job losses and recessions, the hidden power grabs and social experiments done on us all by governments, all for what? Just to supposedly protect people who only have at best 20 odd years more to live by fucking over the social public and personal lives of everyone else.

Going back to work is going back to leading a normal life.
For me, I still stuck working at home.

Only getting out of house during morning jog or to NTUC.

I long to get back to work.

Higher immune system kill the person. Covid didn't kill, its our own immune system. To be safe, be like indian, as dirty as possible (they have among the lowest mortality rate per infected).

Mortality happen, when your lung fail you. Quit smoking is the first step to stay alive.

I agree all my SBF Bros.

Singaporeans (including myself) and Singapore, whatever others will like to comment, are an adaptive nation of people.

We will adapt with the situation and learnt to move on.

Human on the other hand, when it comes to making money and making ends meet, are also adaptive in that sense. Now all we can hope for is the creativity of those in the Vice industry (is there even a "Vice Industry"? :p) to come up with new methods to woo "consumers". Meanwhile, its pornhub.com for me and my "five girlfriends" that will accompany me and my fantasies :D

How come you are still working from home? Many companies already back to normal, at the most have two team that alternate coming back on-site.

On the other hand, this CoVID is not play play wan. My colleague telling me she know of a man, tall and fit. Kenna covid, he was intubated 10 days in ICU. When he woke up, he discovered he was strapped (nice to hear but actually means hands tied to the side handle bars of bed) bcos very uncomfortable and natural instinct is to tear at the tubes. He made a recovery three months ago but up to this day he admits he is not up to his original fitness and pants or breathless easily.

Yet, I agree that this small unseen virus has stopped the world in its tracks and the economic toll is high. When is it gonna stop ? Need to look at WHO n USA as they are the ones who controls the narrative.

As long as WHO says not healthy, govt will no balls and say play safe, don't open economy. Even if one country open, the other country dont open, it is no use.. like our so called free travel with NZ.. we hard up want NZers to come here, but NZ don't want us to come to NZ.. China open to Spore, then mandatory test found covid cases on flights faster close the whole flight ✈️

So, bro, it will take a long time, with no end in sight.. only one possibility is to get a vaccine..then inject and good or bad just say it is working and very good.. then lan lan open economy n travel up...

But if found the people injected did kenna Covid.. then lan lan govt under pressure to close again..

Bottom line is ownself take care ownself. If got a few bucks more, take care of others. See old lady pick cardboard or old man no leg sell tissue, go buy a pack of chye peng or bee hoon veg, give and quietly walk away..

Worse is yet to come.. just imagine up to Jan next year.. how much money will spore govt burn, how much SIA will burn and how much SEM Corp will burn ?

Got job, hold onto it. No job, find something even NTUC packing also can.. it will be a case of last man standing..

If there are 3 vaccines but no guarantee, made in 3 countries. USA, PRC and here. Which will u buy? I go direct which will the "lighting" buy? I guess the cheapest is PRC and most expensive is USA. Made here dont make any different whether jab or no jab.

I prefer to pay more and buy the one from USA. PRC is known to be fake goods. I dont believe they will sell us the correct medicine.

Normally companies wont be interested in vaccines as it is time consuming and a race against time and conpetitors. Also if you read up on polio vaccines there is lots of initial complication.

My advice is go to youtube and search for dr liu taiwan he will explain the situation clearly. No harm listening.

This virus is scary due to impact on modern lifestyle targeing the obese and smokers.

Well said from senior fun boi.
I do not dislike prc as a matter of fact i always think they are very intelligent most of the educated one.
My experience with this virus is upon the prc colleague in my company knew we have to deliver food to stay home notice. They formed a group and quit on spot thus leaving the locals to take up the shift duties also short handed.

This is really very cold of them only local csn help local.

I still dont get it. We have so called smart peoples from other countries. A % con so good the VIPs afraid they leave, gave them the pink ICs. We thanked the most powerful woman, she told us during the opening of the 14th parliment. Two types of locals. Born into this country and, given citizenships by the VIPs. There are 5 more actually.

Chances are a vaccines wont be invented in singapore as we do not have the sample size and the pharma companies works on profits driven.

By the time the vaccines has been invented. The virus will be mutated. The old vaccines will be rendered useless and we are talking about large number of sample sizes and probabilty of reaction to the vaccines.

Only zheng hu offices still zealously follow covid guidelines to the T. Private companies all... bo chap liao if no one is checking. Profitability and staying afloat is more important.

Yesterday evening saw 6, 7 banglas packed together at the back of a pickup truck already. Same old, same old. Is it any surprise those cleared dorms are reinfected? Govt must get their head out of their arse and start WALKING THE GROUND, see what is wrong.

This is a country with many nations. Include N Koreans. Medicines co saw this. I guess this is the reason big co invested here, into R&D because of peoples around the world.

We are volunteers whether we want or dont want. Look at pte hospitals where i guess biggest group of patients are foreigners. Even PR and new citizens are foreigners except the born locals.

The zenghu recently made announcement and adjusted the Employment Pass and S Pass qualifying salary.

Do you think it will help Singaporean save jobs?

For those Singaporeans wish to cast your vote, please follow the link to poll below.
https://www.samsforum.com/showthread.php?t=787742

If you look at it from another perspective, doesn't the raising of EP and SPass salary seems to be fixing a minimum wage for the FTs?

While locals don't even have a minimum wage to talk about, FTs unwittingly gotten it?

$5000 for the EP in banking sector? Garment should try to find out more about those CECA EP in finance sector getting how much.. LOL. $5k will make them go elsewhere.

We simply LOST a whole GENERATION of locals who can do programming and finance for the past 2 decades.

With the proverbial "one CECA brings in whole village", the finance industry has turned to as such, especially at the back end, where the IT demands is the highest.

With the digitalisation in finance sector coming in next decade, Garment SUDDENLY re-emphasised into teaching IT skills to secondary schools again.

Too late and too short sighted as usual.

May Thu never told her family she was suffering. Sure, she spoke of leaving her job in Singapore, but didn’t blame the family whose house she kept clean. After the pandemic shut down travel, those who knew May Thu said she became distressed and didn’t understand why she couldn’t return home to Nga Pu Taw township in the Irrawaddy region.

She would cry when the closure of Changi Airport was extended.

Earlier this month she complained she was in pain, so the family she worked for said they gave her time off to rest at a dorm operated by her employment agency. It was there on Aug. 16 that she leaped from the fourth floor. She survived, but her spine was crushed.

This gen born locals change our mindsets. Not because of technical recession not Wuhan virus aka Covid 19. We became anti foreigners. I guess it is PR and new citizens who cannot united with born locals. They created issues at workplaces and, we blame the FTs.

As of Sat 29 August 2020. "Among the three imported cases, Case 56777 is a three-year-old Singaporean girl who returned to Singapore from India on 16 August".

This caught my attention. The Taskforce is not careful or they done it with reasons. Is this the second wave? PR and new citizens who travel out of this red dot, and return with Covid 19.

The parents of the girl blamed themselves for putting the daughter life in danger. No amount of excuse to leave this country till further notices. Careful of Malaysian who travel via RGL, dont forget those who migrated here too.

I used to worked for a MNC medical company and under a Finnish boss.
He has to go back Finland because contract is up.
So, the HQ employed and deployed a Sri Lan ka ah nei that was working in US.

Then, the show starts now.
This ah nei, side lined all those who were employed by the Finnish. Or even tried to fire us.
And told the HR there are no relevant experience people in SG to fill up his job expectations or demands.
So, he went to India ( that is right, India sub-continent) to recruit.
Back back with fresh grad that know nuts about design or manufacturing processes.

This ah nei was and empty vessel but can talked very well.
Went to lots of exhibitions and seminars to sell himself to move to a bigger company and bigger role.

In end, this empty vessel went to a larger company, but left a lot of shit for the next in charge to clean up.

I really don’t know how the SG govt is going to filter out this type of rubbish from SG.

7 yrs ago a job interview that went well. I was scared to take the offer. I told the SME boss i can clean up the mess left by the FT who went back to HKG. I asked for above market salary and he approved.

This is my point. Those who wish to try must mark up basic salary. What I dare not do I wish the best for born locals who dare to take the jobs offered.

As an analogy, I think why most S'poreans like to complain and blame the gov is very simple.

If the streets dirty but cannot clean it yourself need to wait for gov to clean it.

If really trip and fall, I think quite fair to curse the gov for not doing a good job.

Thought this thread should be under news or current affairs discussion thread or something lol.... Anyway...

This virus will not end in a technical sense. Why? Because such viruses will mutate or change or adapt to the surrounding environment. Same goes to SARS; by the time scientists come close to a vaccine for SARS, SARS was effectively eradicated. Save for a few biological samples of the SARS virus (and along with many other deadly virus strains) stored in highly secured medical storage facilities in many countries' national biomedical research labs (including Singapore).

As of now, for the pandemic to end effectively; to develop a vaccine to counter COVID-19 and/or to wait for these pathogenic viruses to become less lethal with time and becoming seasonal flu.
