Army headquarters:
Preparing to board my aircraft KC-130 I saw a feel familiar faces, second sergeant James and lieutenant alex.
I picked up my duffel bag and went onboard with them. A total of 12 people was in the in the aircraft including the pilot.

James: hey guys. I am second sergeant James, nice to meet you guys. Let's all be safe and return home safety alright? Our families are waiting for us.

Alex: I Am the platoon commander for this team, team code name: FREEDOM.
Alex: first sergeant Jonathan will the sergeant major for the team and James will be the platoon seargeant.

My dear soldiers/comrades. Firstly I thank you all for your dedication to the army and your commitment to the society, few would volunteer this job. Few would even consider this job. But we all know there would always a few that is always be there for us keeping the world safe. I pledge you guys go be safe, and come back in one piece in 6 months times.

Here we go our aircraft took off. 7 hours till we reach our destination. Alex was giving us brief about what we are gonna do when we get there.

Me: yeah I do.. It was a huge decision to come here. How about you?
James: well.. I am avoiding my family. My dad wants me to take over His business. But I hate managing business. I prefer handling with guns.

Alex: frankly speaking. I take this as a challenge, this would do good to my military career. But it's an huge risk and I m taking it.
Alex: I was born in an rather poor family. I started working part time when I was 14 and I have to balance work and studies together. Luckily I manage to finish my diploma before I got enlisted and hence was posted to OCS and pursue my officer rank. Army had been good to me. They sponsored my degree and hence I decided to do something back for them and hence I am here!

Mark: alright, Guess You guys know the reason why you are here. Firstly after we reach our camp. Get the boys to settle down in their tents and have some rest. I would need you guys to gather at the canteen at 1000 for breakfast and i would be giving you ops brief at 1100. We have a Mission for you.

Alex: all right guys! Disembark! And take all your stuff to this tent. This would be our tent for the next six month.

Terry: whoa. Did not expect this..
Junming: yeah.. Let's suffer together for the next 6 months!

The lads settle down quickly and proceed on to have a quick rest when we was woke up by some commotion outside the tentage. Couple of the US soldiers was doing their morning runs and they are all very fit and muscular and friendly they wave to me as they ran pass me. I smiled back to them.

Our welcome meal was rather good. We had cornflakes and milk. Wasn't really expecting this. We finished our meal and went for a smoke before captain mark have his brief with us.

Good morning gentlement, welcome to camp fox. For the next 6 months you guys would be supporting us as reserve. It's pleased to have you guys here to aid us. And I need to access the team strength. So I would know how to deply you guys.

Alright team of 10, your Mission is to capture the building. The building consist of my troops, and you have to capture within the given time of 10 minutes. for your info, those 10 I am deploying they are the elites in my Troop, so please give in your best shot. The surroundings area will be full of fake landmines so please becareful each landmines you step will affect the assessment. Alright boys! Good to go? You will move out in 1300

We proceed on to draw our guns and pistol. Keeping ourself ready we met up in one of a quiet spot and lieutenant alex gave out his ops brief.

This the building we are capturing. We will split up with 5 each. Me James junming terry and Barry will be going from the front to distract them. Jon Kenneth Bryan Louis and Gavin will be secretly enter from the back. Jon please be more discrete while infiltrating from the back. I will cause much commotion for you in the front so the back door will be less guarded.

All ready boys? Remember. Stick to the plan.

Me: alright guys camo on and be ready to move out in 10!

Everyone was getting ready and excited as we were getting ready for our assessment it was far more exciting then fighting atec in Singapore.

1300 it all begins.

Me: Louis go forward and scout and come back report to me. Don't get caught.
Bryan go to the left and Kenneth go to the ride to guard while waiting for Louis.

Alex: alright boys follow my lead. From now on. Tactical movement. No voice and sound use hand signal language. Here's the plan we will leopard crawl from here to 30 meters from the building. And we stay there untill Jon coms me that he's at the back ready for infiltration.

Alex: alright? Here we go.

2 minutes gone and Louis is back.

Louis: there's only 3 people guarding the back door. The rest are all at level 2.
Me: ok let's go! Tactical movement don't get caught by the guards.

Me: alex alex alex, we are there.
Alex: ok! Go in when you see any chances.

It looks like the front had started their fight.

We check rooms by rooms and took down another guy on the first floor, so they are only left with 7 men. As we are proceeding to level 2 we got found out and they started to return fire at us. And heavily guarded the stairs.

Me: Kenneth throw a smoke grenade up.
Kenneth: roger.
Me: alex barge in the front door if there's any chance we cleared level 1 already.
Alex: roger.

Time check. 3 minutes more.

Alex and his barge in from the front door and met up with us. I threw an smoke grenade up to level 2

Me: Barry I want you to shoot all your billets at the wall now!
Barry: roger

He Began to shoot at the war causing some sound effects that we are shooting at the stairway and causing the US troops to retreat. Alex took his team up and manage to took down 3 more guys. But alex junming and Terry was all shot too.

I lead my team up to level 2 and all the remaining enemy all retreated back to the rooms, and hence we have to do room clearing for the whole level. One by one we cleared the rooms killing 2 in between but Louis Gavin Kenneth Barry and Bryan was all shot too. We had 2 doors remaining. Those all the tricky ones both rooms are connected. It's just left me and James vs another 2 us army guy.

Me: on my count of 3 we go in never back down. 1,2,3

James kicked the door hard and we both went in and all our guns pointing at the enemy while the enemy pointed at us back. One of the guys gave an death stare to me which he would kill me anytime. That guy signal his comrade to put his gun down and I signal James to put down his too, and together we all put down our guns, no communication nothing I signal James to stand at the door. While he signal his comrade to do the same, and within seconds we are both in our fighting stance, Judging the way he stand I know he's a boxer, while I am judo and MMA trained.

He started of the fight by charging me and throwing a few hard punches lucky for me I am able to dodge all that punches. I began to strike back he dodges it smoothly too but I leap on Top of him to hug him like an koalar bear and use my elbow to strike on TOP of his head. He swing left and right and gave me and hard punch on to my adomen and I flew few steps back.

We stare at each other and we just knew the fight had only just started.
I began to charge him, but he just stand there thinking he would withstand my charge. But I managed to pin him down and use few of my MMA kicks and manage to pin him, it took some time for him to breakfree and he charge straight to me pinning me on the wall and keep punching on my face. I had an hard time blocking it by the given space, and i feel like giving up. I feel the pain, I am losing conscious.. Just as I was about to give up he stop punching for 1-2 seconds I gave him and hard kick away. Which he took a few steps back and I charged him like an raging bull pinning him down on the floor flat and I was on TOP of him giving him all my punches using my final strength and I use both of my legs to strangle his neck.

It was my last bit of strength I saw him tapping the ground furiously. And I let go of him, I lay flat on the ground looking up at the ceiling, I began to lose conscious and wander into sleep.

I woke up, not knowing where am I but I am assuming I am at the medical tent, I saw I am on IV drips, and the first person I saw was..

Hi sergeant I am sergeant Jamie, I am an combat medic judging from her rank she only have sa tiao, so I assume she 3rd sergeant only.

As she was nursing my wound she ask me tons of question, why am I here, what's my name,

Jamie: you have to go all out don't you? The person you are up to was master sergeant Bobby. He's or best fighter here.
Me: well..I got to give my everything while I m here, I promise I bring my men back to singapore safe. It's my promise to them.
Jamie: hahaha you are an interesting fellow. Alright all done u need more rest. I will see you soon. Again. As she gave me an wink and left the tent.

Alex came into the tent and was smiling widely to himself.

Alex: bro! The angmo very happy with the results. Although our mission fail. But they are very happy with the results. They saw the cctv replay of you and master sergeant Bobby fight. They say they have high expectations of you now haha.

Me: owh. It hurt like a bitch you know.

Just than master sergeant Bobby walked in.

Bobby: hey buddy! How's it going? Sorry for the hard punches yeah. It was all for the assessment. But that was my greatest fight ever! I never look down on Asian anymore, despite their small built they can really fight!

Me: it was my hardest fight ever too. But it was great.

Bobby: alright mate! Rest well! We have an important mission in a few days time. I make a move first ya? Cheers!

Alex: that guy likes you. He spoke highly of you in captain mark debrief just now.
Me: that's good. We Singaporean may be small.. But we are strong!
Alex: haha alright rest well. I am bringing the lads around the camp.

With that I fell in deep sleep. And when I woke up. It was night time already. And it was just me in the tent. I say up straight on the bed and decided to have a walk. I unpluck the IV drips from my wrist and I made my way out of the entrance.

What a beautiful scenery. The sky is full of stars just that I am admiring the sky I felt a tap on my back, it was sergeant Jamie

Jamie: hey! Who told you could remove the IV drip??
Me: well.. If I dint remove it I had missed such a beautiful scenery.
Me: and why are you here in this hour?
Jamie: I am here to check on you. But it seems you are fine.
Me: I am gonna take a walk around wanna join me?
Jamie: sure I bring you around.

She showed me around the camp showing me where's the cafeteria where's my tent, where to shower and where's the headquarters where meeting are held. The camp is big I exclaimed.

Me: so sergeant Jamie. Why are you here?
Jamie: my parents.. They are both soldiers my brother too so basically I grew up in an soldier controlled environment.
Jamie: my mum is in the air force while my dad is an retire colonel from the infantry side.
Me: so what makes you join the army?
Jamie: I had no choice.. I did not do well in medicine school and hence I signed on as an medic instead of an doctor. I prefer saving lives then killing it.
Me: hmm well you did an good job then! I felt much better under your care.

As I smiled shyly towards her, she looked at me. And for the first time our eyes made contact at each other.

Me: so Jamie. Tell me more about yourself. Do you have a boyfriend?

She remained silence and I could see her tearly eyes as she continue.

He is... Strong, capable, responsible, suave, smart basically you can't find any fault with him.

Me: whoa sounds like a very good catch. And which unit is he in now?.

Jamie: he got killed in the war. They were outnumbers and got caught by them and was torture to death.

Me: oh I am so sorry.

With that she face away and began to weep and cry.

Me: this is the war. Everyone hates it. But if we don't do the job in keeping our country safe, who does it? I am sorry for your lost.

Jamie turned around and kissed me. I was shocked by her gesture she closed her eyes while the tears was still flowing down from her eyes to her cheeks. I stood there firmly and decided to just let her be. Let her express her feelings out.

Jamie: I am sorry.. You reminds me of him. Your personality everything. It was him. I thought he returned.

Me: it's okay. What gone is gone. You will meet someone better yeah?

We proceed to the cafeteria which is closed. And she went into the kitchen to look what's to prepare. As usual Angmo kind of food. She made burger with mash potatoes for me.

We spend an hour there chatting about Singapore army telling her and sharing stories about what we encounter and what we do.

Jamie: rest well Jon. Please look for me if you feel unwell. And for goodness sake! Cancel the PT Tmr your body need to rest.

With that Barry and I walked back to our tents heavy hearted. What a day it had been. The assessment and the fight I had with master sergeant Bobby. Are things gonna be more tough for us?

The next morning. I woke up missing home, missing my family and my girlfriend. I checked my phone and saw no messages from kelly. But full of messages from my mum. Asking me how am I.

I replied my mum and decided to send a text msg to kelly to tell tell her I am fine and is settling well here

Me: alright gentlement! Today we are doing an 7km run. Around the camp. Anybody feeling unwell?

Everybody: NO SERGENT MAJOR!

Me: alright let's proceed to warm up! 3rd sergeant terry will lead the warm up.

We started the run and was jogging together. Admiring the scenery and dessert around us. It's really beautiful and make us want to protect this place even more.

We ran pass the medical center and saw Jamie was arranging her stuff in there. She saw us and she made an wave to me which Barry saw and he felt slightly unhappy in it.

We finished our run and proceed on to do our cool down excercise. Which I saw a few female soldiers. Doing their morning excercise.

Oh man they all look so tough and strong. Wearing their full battle order and doing their morning jog. Now it makes our PT look pussy.
