Agree. All opposition parties should make way for the only true blue opposition party! Just like the once a year 7th lunar, these opposition ghosts appear only once every 5 years, then take topics from stomp to make a fuss. damn it. where were they when we need voices?

Opposition parties should be active between elections too

I agree that voters need enough time to learn about the candidates for the General Election (GE) and what they stand for (“Early notice of GE would be in voters’ interests”; Aug 12).

FROM ANTHONY OEI -
AUGUST 14
I agree that voters need enough time to learn about the candidates for the General Election (GE) and what they stand for (“Early notice of GE would be in voters’ interests”; Aug 12).
That is the job of the political parties, however, and is an ongoing process. Little is known about them now, except those from the People’s Action Party and the Workers’ Party, because most of the opposition parties hibernate between elections.
Politics is an everyday affair, and not only an election-time affair.
Parties should therefore be active between elections by voicing their concerns over bread-and-butter issues, presenting credible socio-economic programmes to improve our lives and introducing possible candidates who can do the job.
By being visible all the time and vocal, they would become familiar faces. Voters would have plenty of time to assess them and make decisions when elections come. Indeed, the Opposition should be ready even for snap elections.
