The Spyros disaster was a major industrial disaster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disaster) that occurred in Singapore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singapore). The Greek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greece) tanker (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanker_%28ship%29) Spyros exploded (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explosion) at Jurong Shipyard (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jurong_Shipyard&action=edit&redlink=1) in Singapore on October 12, 1978. It killed 76 people, and remains as Singapore's worst accident, in terms of lives lost, in Singapore's post-war history.
