Hello all,

I have a tech question here. I am a paid advertiser in the forum.

I see that SBF forum uses forum BB code to embed urls, instead of HTML. I am trying to apply the rel="nofollow" tag to my url links, to abid with google's web guidelines, so that the links i posted in this forum will not be taken in account and indexed into pank ranking.

Is there anyway i can do that? as the forum only allows BB code and no HTML.

On the long run, if i am posting a lot in my threads with my website links, it will be harmful for SEO as the algorithm will consider this as manupulation to page rank.

Hope to get some advice here. Thanks!

Jason

I can add it to the parsing script if you want.

Hello Boss,

Thank you for the reply.

A question here, hope you dont mind. I am an amateur tech person.

If i dont add the nofollow tag, will it have negative effect on my website's SEO on the long run? As i update my thread often with Url links to my site, i read about Google's policies in huge amount of inbound links could be classified as a penalty for paid links. I checked my backlinks, and i curently have 1400 inbound links from sbf with same anchor text my website's name.

Sincerely appreciate the assistance here.

I'm no SEO expert and I have never bothered about how google works because the traffic to this forum has been by word-of-mouth rather than search engine driven.

I'll ask my tech guru.

Nofollow has been installed. However, my techie guy says he doesn't think it would make much difference.

Nevertheless he thinks it is good practice.

Thanks Boss,

Do i need to make any changes on my end? Or all my previous posts are now with nofollow?

When the cache refreshes, all your previous posts will be taken care of.

There is no need for you to do anything. It is all done behind the scenes.

Hi Boss,

Apologies for digging this thread again.

A quick question, does the nofollow tag applies to links in my signature too?

Thanks

From what I can figure out, all URLs are parsed the same way. I'll confirm this and get back to you.
