Dear TRS,

DATA Register Pte. Ltd. or Company Register is still operating its scam and is still sending business owners invoices and demanding payment.

They even send “invoice reminders” to business owners worded in such a way that company bosses are sure to feel threatened and urgent to pay.

They use the Singapore government lion logo and act like they are a government agency or body but they are actually just a private company collecting free money from business owners who fail to check properly.

They claim that you need to pay the fee to maintain your company’s record on the database and their letters look as if they could have come from a government agency like ACRA because of the logo. Some business owners will be fooled by this and pay thinking it is compulsory in order to keep their business registered.

The company has been in the news in the past and they even got investigated by ACRA and punished but here they are, still continuing their scam and collecting $490 from companies for pretty much no reason.

(See: ACRA files 78 charges against misleading company Data Register Pte Ltd (http://therealsingapore.com/content/acra-files-78-charges-against-misleading-company-data-register-pte-ltd)
Dear TRS readers, please be careful of the company Data Register PTE LTD (http://therealsingapore.com/content/dear-trs-readers-please-be-careful-company-data-register-pte-ltd)
Police are investigating Data Register Pte Ltd (http://therealsingapore.com/content/police-are-investigating-data-register-pte-ltd))

They openly continue their scam business.

How can the government let such businesses continue operating and using the government logos to deceive people?

Why have the authorities been unable to stop this errant business?

Here is a copy of their “invoice reminder” that they sent me, asking me to pay then $490.
Dear Sirs,

Re: Second Invoice Reminder

1. We refer to our invoice dated 14 January 2014(“Invoice”) and our first invoice reminder letter dated 9 December 2015. The copy of the invoice is attached. The invoice copy provides details of the date when the subscription was made by your company. Recently, our finance department would have also tried to contact you with regards to the overdue invoices and we are now following up with the second mail reminder for the same.

2. We had previously given you a window period to settle the outstanding dues to us without any interest charges and have extended the same till now but we have yet to receive the payment. We will be levying an interest of S$39.20, including 7% GST, as the invoice has been overdue for a year now and such pro-forma invoice will be sent in due course for your settlement which will be followed by Tax Invoice upon receipt of payment. Please note that your earliest settlement of the Invoice through Paypal would allow us to waive the interest of 8% per annum, which is being levied for the late payment of the overdue Invoice. We would like to highlight that the interest shall accrue until settlement of the overdue Invoice.

3. Please note that you can either make the payment through Paypal link provided on or by cheque in favour of our Singapore Data Register Pte Ltd and mail it to our mailing address 35 Tannery Road, #08-06, Singapore 347740.

4. We have upgraded our services in line with feedback from our customers and our customer requirements. We hope that you will enjoy our services.
