THAILAND - A Singaporean navy officer cadet had to be evacuated by the Royal Thai Navy on Sunday after he exhibited stroke-like symptoms while sailing off the waters of Phuket, reported Thai news website Phuket News.

The cadet, Chong Jia Jun, was onboard the RSS Endeavour, a Republic of Singapore Navy Landing Ship Tank on its way home from Myanmar.

The website reported that the Royal Thai Navy had sent out a boat to rescue the Singaporean after receiving a call for assistance from the Singapore warship. It had said that one of its crew members required emergency medical treatment.

The Thai Navy took Midshipman Chong to Dan Sulakakorn pier in Phang Nga, Phuket, where he was taken by ambulance to Phuket International Hospital.
