This fucking PM is really rubbing it in the nose of sinkies. Must come out personally to give new FTs their citizenships. U mean to tell that this event is so important to him? My friends told me when they became citizens of other countries, the new country just mail them the citizenship certificates. Where got ceremony? And worse of all, this insensitive PM is handing them out in Ang Mo Kio? WTF. They should hand it out in some small room in the ICA HQ. Next time, they should reveal these events ahead of time, so a crowd of locals can properly blanket party them when they come out. Welcome to Singapore, u motherfuckers. P.S. Is shitting in a MRT station considered engaging in community activities?
SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has urged new citizens to engage in the community where they live and take part in community activities. Speaking at a citizenship ceremony at the Ang Mo Kio and Sengkang West constituencies on Saturday (Aug 30), Mr Lee said he hopes the new citizens will actively integrate into society and discover more about Singapore.
Some 150 new Singaporeans from the constituencies received their citizenship certificates and identification cards at the ceremony in the afternoon.
Mr Lee also encouraged them to celebrate Singapore's 50th birthday next year with other fellow citizens. He acknowledged that changing citizenship is a major decision because the new citizens are not just deciding for themselves, but for their family and children.
He said there will be some adjustments to be made, given that they come from different cultures. Mr Lee also urged residents to welcome them and help the new arrivals integrate on a more personal level.
At an earlier ceremony in the morning, another 200 new Singaporeans living in the Ang Mo Kio and Sengkang West constituencies received their citizenship certificates.
