PM Lee, why aren’t you able to grasp the dire consequences of increasing our population with more immigrants?
If we don’t cap our population or even reduce it, up to 90% of the generations down the road are never going to have their standard of living improved for wages are never going to keep up with the rise in the cost of living as a result on the pressure on land use in extreme land-scarce Singapore, what with your low-grade idea of an economy that relies over-heavily on cheap (Third World) labour, and driving down our wages.
The standard of living of the newer generations will keep going downhill as that of most of ours already has.
Your policies only ensure that a tiny group such as yourselves will benefit immensely with unbelievable asset appreciation of your private homes and landed properties, gains (your comfort and your luxury) which will have to be paid for by future generations in much higher prices of housing without a matching rise in wages.
Or are you intelligent enough to ensure that our wages keep pace with the cost of housing and the use of a car?
We are not even talking about the social costs yet.
Aren’t you able to see that we are no longer one People with one Singaporean identity like we used to be? We now have Singaporeans against the Indian Indians, the PRC’s, the Pinoys, etc. and vice versa. Don’t you realize we don’t identify with them and they don’t identify with us?
Before you spend those mad billions on defence against the external enemy, our scholar Generals (if they have any brains) ought to think about the enemy from within in a fragmented nation.
Should war break out, those billions spent on military hardware will be useless with a fragmented population of 6,9m. Even true blue Sinkies no longer have loyalty.
How do we get it into your thick skull that for new immigrants to assimilate into the host population in any country, you can’t open the floodgates wide?
Worse, you have even allowed them to discriminate against the host population. Name us another country where its people will permit the government to be so stupid and senseless. If it were not for your oppressive rule and lack of democracy, it wouldn’t happen here either. You would have long fled to the haven where you parked your ill-deserved wealth.
Please stop this madness before we see scenarios of frictions which would make the Little India riot look like they were only partying!
P.S.
Please take a trip to Estonia and learn from them how they are able to grow their economy without relying on massive immigration from cheaper countries. And their population size is even smaller than that of Singapore.
While you’re there, please also learn how they have been able to attract more intelligent and capable people than yourselves to step up without paying themselves multi-million dollar salaries.
