The Health Ministry said it has been notified of at least six cases of pre-schoolers in Pasir Ris who have been reportedly infected with the H1N1 flu virus over the weekend.

The cases were reported at two kindergartens in Pasir Ris, according to reports.

When contacted, the ministry would only say it has been notified of the cases and is investigating. It declined to comment further.

The H1N1 strain of the influenza virus first emerged in Singapore in May 2009, and at least 30 people here have died from it. The virus is generally mild, but it can still be fatal in some cases.
