I dun understand the romanized you are writing. But if its spoken in this way, where the girl ask you question.

Chan Pid Mai?

It means Am I Wrong?

Pid is Wrong. Mai is Or not.

Tham Pid Means Do Wrong.

Khon Pid Means Wrong Person.

Hope this helps

SCThis is what I have always been trying to say. When one does not the correct pronunciation method to speak thai, it will almost always lead to confusion. As for the original question and the way in which it was asked, there are severa possiblities , depending on the tones and the length of the vowel (short or long) and even the context in which it was used, they can mean very different things. can some1 tell me what is pid mai? For example,

1. ผิดไหม (pìt măi) = it is wrong?
2. ปิดไหม (bpìt măi) = Is it closed?
3. พิษไหม (pít măi) = Is it poisonous?

The above are just common words that sounded the same if one writes as "pid mai" but in the romanized thai above they sounded complete different.

On a slightly different tone (or phonetic) there are some more words that seems close (again in the traditional romanized thai) but are very diferent in the more modern representation.

1. เผ็ดไหม (pə̀t măi) = Is it spicy?
2. เปิดไหม (bpə̀ət măi ) = Is it opened?

and there are other similar words (and they may even sound exactly the same) that can mean duck, diamond, eight, physician, depending on the context. There probably others that are outside outside my vocab.
3.

Anyone knows the meaning of 'Noi Jai'???

Dear bro houganglover,

you have to tell us the context of how the word was used or we will keep assuming what the person said. It could have been jai nooay ใจน้อย - like bro oxilary said...but i wouldn't be surprised if the person actually said nôk jai นอกใจ - unfaithful

It means feeling "xiao qi"... u know? I'm not sure the english word... but its normally used in Thai lady. For example, u promised to take a Thai lady out, and suddenly u changed ur mind and she say "its fine!"... but u know "its not fine" and she's feeling "NOI JAI" inside.. Its a VERY common word among thai... Thai men like to describe Thai women as noi jai..... sometimes I say my Thai male friends are "kii noi jai" too....
cheers

normally thai conversations end with ka or krup... perhaps u should write out the whole sentence or why ur Thai WL say these 2 words to u cos these 2 words don't sound like Thai.. rather sounds like malay language leh.. u show ur WL from Thai?... or Indonesia? :p

The numbers are the tone in han yu ping yin. Like in Thai there are 5 tones(L,R,M,F,H) while in chinese han yu ping yin there's 4.

Than, maybe you should try writing not in han yu ping yin. Just normal romanised like how they sound (adding in the numbers or alphabets if you want). As singrakthai suggest, put it in the sentence so that bros here can figure out a more accurate picture of what the girl is telling you.

Putting only the word will have many suggestions as "pid mai" has shown.

i think and think.. finally i think maybe:

1. neng1 ku4 - neung chu - 1 hour?

this one... *sigh*
2. a1 li1 bae3 zu2 bang3 - seriously sounds like Ali something something.. like name or something...

Easier if u describe on what situation ur friend say these words.

See? I'm not a nasty guy wat.. abit sacarstic at times but i'm harmless leh.. :p
