just wanna put up another suggestion to Boss by putting my idea to open voting from fellow samsters, given the success of a previous suggestion (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showthread.php?t=111391).

i think it might be a useful feature for threadstarters of FAQs and stickies to update on the respective first posts instead of posting whole new replies. so newbies don't need to search all over the place for info, no more lazy excuse that can't find what they want. just need to check first post of the thread for updates. took this idea from $$$$$$$$$$$$ forum :p

but the threadstarters of those stickies or FAQs also gotta be on the ball though, for this thing to work ideally...

another caveat is that some irresponsible posters might delete or edit their posts after saying inappropriate stuff. but i guess if somebody else uses the [quote] feature, the original post will still be viewable :D

eg this bro here (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showpost.php?p=5226638&postcount=61)wanted to advise another fellow samster not to post full address openly, but by quoting, he himself also repost the address out for all to see :p

mebbe the TS here (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showthread.php?t=182905) just wanna update n consolidate all the FRs for the masseuse, but in the end keep reposting long replies...

if we can edit our own posts then can just edit n update the first post... no need to use up valuable forum resources mah ;)

new readers can also see one shot where all the FRs for the gal are, no need to scroll down n hunt among all the "pls pm me contact" replies

in this post (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showpost.php?p=4951207&postcount=1), the pics of the gal at tinypic all wrong already...

gotta dig all the way into one of the posts somewhere behind for updated links to view how the gal looks like...

another point to consider for this suggestion thread :)

still got so many noobs keep digging out dead threads after the FLs long gone back PRC...

if the TS can edit first post n just put The Gem Has Gone Back ALready in bold red then prob won't have so many blind diggers asking for contacts liao

if cannot edit every post, how about allowing threadstarters to edit first post for easier updating?
eg, changing heading to [CLOSED] when the gal's gone, or change of rates or updating of pics...

not just a few threadstarters got blind noobs asking for contacts even years after the gal's gone (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showpost.php?p=5214180&postcount=199)

Every other forum I am a member of, allows you to edit your own post or even delete it, with no time limit. As long as you are the original poster, the edit button will always be there.

Why does SBF not allow this? I read the FAQ which says that the edit button appears only for a short time, but actually how long is that?

After a recent post, barely 30 minutes later, I wanted to edit it but could not find the edit button, although at the bottom of the page, in a box stating what I can or cannot do, it says I "may edit my post". Didn't notice whether the edit button was there when I first sent the post.

Sometimes we post something which, after sending, we realise we didn't say the right thing or we just have a change of heart about what we said. Or we simply want to amend a few details here and there.

I understand sometimes, if the post is edited after too long a time, then some readers may not be aware of the amended post, and still have in mind what was originally posted.

To alleviate this problem, I suggest the poster raise a new post, to refer the reader to the previous post which has been amended. Unless the amendment is too minor to really bother anybody whether he knows of the amendment or not.

Yep, the edit button is there on this post.

I am going to see how long it takes to disappear.

Or maybe it disappears the moment a new post comes on to this thread.

If I'm not wrong, editting function will be disabled after an hour of posting.

Not being able to edit post indefinitely makes people THINK before they POST.
And to prevent certain people from editting out information.

Not being able to edit post indefinitely makes people THINK before they POST.
And to prevent certain people from editting out information.
that's a gd point about the status quo.

the main reason i'm advocating for a change is so that some threads can get updated in the 1st post, especially FAQ threads, then noobs don't have to trawl through tens or hundreds of pages for info (like my fav Batam thread (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showthread.php?t=66580) :o)

btw when posts are quoted by someone else, what has been posted can't be edited either
